Yahoo Launches “You In?” – Spread Kindness Campaign

Continuing its Purple colored, You-centric branding campaign Yahoo is launching “You In?”, a year-end giving campaign that aims to encourage people to do some act of kindness around the world. To document this noble feat, Yahoo launched its Purple-themed Kindness site where anyone can post online status messages relating to good deeds done by people – to inspire other to do the same. Here are examples of how the site works: For example, someone could post “I just dropped off a coat from my closet at a homeless shelter, You In?” or “I paid the toll fee for the car behind me, You In?” The message will appear in that person’s Yahoo! status; can be shared via social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace; and will be displayed on an interactive global map on the Yahoo Kindness site. And here are random samples of acts of kindness already done by people worldwide: – “I traded in a $100 bill for 100 one-dollar bills and wrote a note on each that read: ‘Please take this dollar bill, add one dollar bill, and pass it on.’” – “I helped an 85-year-old neighbor bring her Xmas decorations down from the rafters — all 12 boxes!” – “I helped an elderly lady carry her groceries to her car.” – “I am baking Christmas cakes to share with friends in need of help.” – “I dropped off supplies at the local Humane Society and at the local women’s shelter. “ So, are you in for some spreading of kindness act?  Go ahead and check Yahoo’s shindig. Google Chrome for Mac, Linux Available Now

As an early Christmas gift to us Mac users who have been waiting for so long, Google has finally outed Chrome for Mac (beta).  As a bonus, Google has also released Chrome for Linux and activated Chrome Extensions for Chrome users in Windows platform. If you’re a Mac user and you haven’t downloaded Chrome Beta for Mac, you should – right now. Google Chrome for Mac (Beta) brings the clean and simple design and of  course the lightning speed of Google Chrome that Windows users have been enjoying for the past couple of months now.  Like what the Google Blog said, Chrome for Mac loads fast, as in really fast.  In terms and look and feel, Chrome for Mac (Beta) is different of course from Chrome on Windows. It’s more  like having a toned-down version of Safari. Some of the basic features of Chrome for Windows are already in Chrome for Mac, although advanced features such as bookmark sync, extensions, bookmark manager are yet to be incorporated. Browser skins are already available. Overall, Chrome for Mac looks pretty good. It’s still in beta so expect some glitches along the way, although so far I haven’t encountered any. Hopefully  more advanced features would come along the way. You may download Google Chrome for Mac (Beta) from here . Aside from releasing Google Chrome for Mac (Beta), Google also made Chrome for Linux (Beta) available for Download with support for the 300 cool Chrome extensions which are also available for use on Google Chrome for Windows installation. Google Buys Appjet & Etherpad

Well, it’s been quite awhile since we heard of any Google acquisition. I can’t even remember what was the last company it bought. But anyway, Christmas comes early for Appjet Inc., which runs Etherpad an online collaboration tool as they have just been acquired by Google , possibly to beef up  - Google Wave. Appjet’s Etherpad is an online collaboration tool that lets users import Microsoft Word docs, web pages, PDFs and text files. Once imported, users can then share this with group members allowing full editing capability  on a community-accessed “pad.” I haven’t tried using Google Wave’s file sharing and collaboration feature yet, but definitely this is something which you can do using Google Docs. So why did Google purchased a product similar to what one of its current product can do?  Wouldn’t Google Docs suffice for Google Wave’s need for an online file sharing and collaboration gadget? Anyway, if you’re an Etherpad user,  a few reminders about how this would affect your Etherpad use. These include – Etherpad staying online until March 2010 with some restrictions, no new free public pads maybe created after March 31, 2010, and after said date existing pads will be deleted including personal accounts infos. Then you can wait  until Google integrate this to Google Wave. Check out the SEO Tools guide at Search Engine Journal . Google Buys Appjet &
