Microsoft Announces Bing Maps, Mobile App, Toolbar and Visual Search

This could be Bing’s last hurrah for the year, as Microsoft launches Bing Maps in beta while at the same time announces a new Bing mobile app, a new toolbar and a visual search experience in the coming days.  While all these new features seem pretty exciting, Bing Maps beta which runs on Microsoft’s Silverlight looks to be the most promising. Canadian, Australian Authorities Clear Microsoft/Yahoo Deal

Two down, two to go for the Microsoft-Yahoo search ads deal. Both the Canadian and Australiation anti-trust authorities have just cleared the controversial deal.  In a joint announced published by SeattlePI blog , Yahoo and Microsoft jointly stated that: “Microsoft and Yahoo! have been notified that Australian and Canadian authorities have separately concluded their reviews and have no objections to our proposed search agreement.” The two companies also said that their deal will pave the way for a more competitive marketplace for the benefit of consumers, advertisers, publishers, and hope that the deal will be closed by 2010. The deal did not find any problem passing through the scrutiny of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission since Microsoft and Yahoo already have an existing partnership in Australia. In fact, the ACCC opined that the deal would make both Microsoft and Yahoo a worthy competitor to Google. Meanwhile, the Canadian Competition Bureau has also finished reviewing the search ad deal although they have not yet issued any public statement approving it. With that, the deal now awaits the approval of both the European and American anti-trust bodies, which in the opinion of many analysts will give Microsoft and Yahoo a hard time. Will Microsoft Force Google to Pay for News Content?

NewsCorp’s Rupert Murdoch’s crusade against Google is definitely starting to sizzle.  Mr. Murdoch’s assault against Google started last week when he said that he might resort to legal actions to stop Google from “stealing stories” published in his company’s various newspaper publications.  And now look who is coming to the side of NewsCorp? – Bing. CNN is reporting that Microsoft and News Corp are currently discussing some general plans against Google – more particularly to push the “de-indexing” of News Corp’s contents from Google.  The trade-off?  Microsoft will pay News Corp. for doing so. Interestingly, News Corp seems to be not the only online content publisher that was approached by Microsoft, says this report .   Large news publishers were reportedly being courted by Microsoft to de-list their news content from Google’s index. Another interesting aspect of this issue is of course the fact that Mr. Murdoch who started the attack against Google happens to be co-owner of Microsoft Bing. Now, you see the picture? And what does Google has to say about this?  Matt Brittin, Google’s UK director mentioned was quoted during the Society of Editors Conference -  “Economically it’s not a big part of how we generate revenue.” I guess that pretty much sums up Google’s stand. Pixelsilk: SEO-Friendly Content Management System

Why would one want to use a content management system? The major benefits include: (1) the ability to easily create and publish web content with no programming language knowledge required and (2) the ability to connect multiple websites and multiple users under one handy dashboard. With Pixelsilk content management system we have yet another benefit: easily optimize your website for search engines. No, it is not about SEO automation like you may think: this is about creating clean, SEO-friendly websites – it’s about making the process easier and clearer (even for an absolute newbie), not about automating it. I had a great time talking to the company representative last week who walked me through the whole process of adding and optimizing web content with Pixelsilk CMS, so I am sharing that experience with you today. I don’t have huge experience with web-based content management systems (as I normally don’t use any) but I really liked Pixelsilk for the main reasons: It is very flexible: enjoy full control over your HTML, CSS, and overall SEO; It is really user-friendly and doesn’t take any time to figure it out (so should be easy to get your team work with it). Here’s a quick feature overview (with some SEO focus of course): Create new

Microsoft Powerpoint Training For Busy People

by Carol Alexander The use of presentations and slideshows is gaining in popularity. Many people are finding themselves with the Microsoft Powerpoint program but need to find a Microsoft Powerpoint Training class or program to get them started in using the program effectively. There are many colleges and training centers that provide training to individuals seeking Microsoft Powerpoint Training. The purpose of these courses is to provide individuals with the basics of using the program so that they can return to their home or business and experiment with the program. In most of the classes the special functions that are taught are those that are used most by people who use Powerpoint on a regular basis. Sitting with someone who has used the Powerpoint program for a long period of time is a great way to get effective Microsoft Powerpoint Training. These people know many different functions that a person who does not use the program on a regular basis would not know. They can teach an individual how to get faster results or produce more effective presentations in fewer keystrokes. When one is using the program they will also find that there is a tutorial available within the program. If one reaches a function or feature that they do not understand or cannot manipulate it is possible to switch the tutorial on and get a walk-through on how to make the function work properly. Should a person wish to learn the complex intricacies of the program it is always wise to purchase books and manuals specifically designed to provide Microsoft Powerpoint Training. These books often discuss particular features in more detail than might be covered in other types of training programs. Microsoft Powerpoint Training does not end. There is always something new to learn with the program and a new method for creating exciting presentation, slideshows, brochures, and pamphlets. When an individual gets to a point where they feel they have learned all that they want to know they can stop. Where To Get Microsoft PowerPoint Training

by Elliot Harris Microsoft PowerPoint training can be obtained through many sources. This program comes with the Microsoft office suite and has many uses. The Microsoft tutorial is a good way to learn the basics and it’s free of charge. This can give you enough information to get you started. Once you get started on your own then you can experiment with all of the options available to you through the program and customize the presentations to fit your individual needs. I highly recommend trying this out before you spend a lot of money on expensive courses, books, or other training. If you have questions about the program not answered or if you need more advanced instruction then you have several options available. Any course that offers training in Microsoft office usually provides instruction in Microsoft PowerPoint as well. The other sites that offer this type of instruction usually charge a fee. This is a good option if you think you will feel more comfortable having an instructor to help if is needed. These will offer much more in depth training in this program. Yet another and slightly cheaper alternative is to buy one of the books that promise to help you learn to use the program. Last but not least is an actual computer course to help to learn to use these programs. This may be a bit expensive and time consuming for a casual user. These are available at many schools and online well. This is also the best option if you prefer to have an instructor on hand to answer any of the questions you may have. Microsoft PowerPoint training is available for both the 2003 and 2007 versions of the program. This is a great program to help ions look your presentations look professional weather you are preparing for a business meeting or a class presentation.
